While you’re in town for the World Archery Championships 2021, check out what what’s on offer in historic downtown Vermillion and along bustling Cherry St.

Historic Downtown Vermillion

Vermillion’s main cultural district fills the most historic section of the city. If you’re looking for uniquely local, downtown is the place to go with tons of shops, local restaurants, and bars lining the streets.

Start your day at The Bean Community Coffeehouse, or Cafe Brule where specialty coffee will get you through the morning. Later in the day if pizza is what you’re after, there are a lot of great options in Vermillion. Local spot R-Pizza & Corner Store is known for their homemade dough and pizza sauce and Dakota Brick House also has a fantastic hand-tossed pizza option, among an eclectic food menu that will satisfy any craving.

Cap the night off with bustling nightlife, live entertainment, and perfectly-crafted drinks. Grab a beer and take a seat at OLC’s unique penny-covered bartop or head to the third floor rooftop patio; head to Main Street Pub for their unique atmosphere; or enjoy a fantastic craft cocktail in a beautifully restored historic building at Dakota Brick House.

Bustling Cherry Street

Cherry Street is bustling with business activity and acts as the main thoroughfare through Vermillion.

A must-stop is Mister Smith’s Bakery where they serve sandwiches in a hardware store on their Oprah-Awarded “Best Bread in the World”. It never disappoints and is a Vermillion staple.

A summertime staple – Heck’s Dakota Style BBQ – serves up award-winning pork, beef brisket, ribs and chicken.

And if it’s a quick bite you’re after, you can’t go wrong with any of the fast-food franchise options on offer – sandwiches from Subway or Jimmy John’s; a burger from McDonald’s, Dairy Queen or Burger King; or some taco’s from Taco John’s.
