Is the VCDC a city department?
The VCDC is a 501(c)(4) organized for the betterment of the community. We're not a government organization ourselves, but we do work closely with the City of Vermillion, Clay County, and even the State of South Dakota to improve the quality of life in the region. We also operate a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm, Missouri Valley Growth.
Does the VCDC do any large-scale development projects?
Over the years, we've hosted numerous capital campaigns to raise money for community development projects. Most recently, we're coming off the heels of Grow Vermillion, a $1.5 million campaign to increase housing, grow workforce, and develop amenities.
Who can join the Chamber?
Anyone! Our membership body is made up of businesses of every size and industry, as well as entrepreneurs, private individuals, nonprofits, community groups, and even other chambers of commerce. We also have a young professionals network for those looking to get involved in the community.
