For the Kids
In Vermillion, successful children enjoy a rich and robust start in life. That's the motto that we take to heart every day. We work to give children the best possible foundation from which to build on. It's the reason we were awarded a $400,000 childcare grant to improve quality of care and assist new childcare startups in town. With good schools, lively community events, and a host of great youth programming, Vermillion is a city for children.

Housing Assistance
The City of Vermillion maintains the Vermillion Housing Authority to provide safe, decent, and sanitary housing for families who cannot afford suitable housing accommodations in the private market. In addition to its primary purpose of improving the living conditions of low- and moderate-income persons, the VHA also endeavors to help improve the economic and social standing of its residents. As a Housing Authority, VHA seeks to provide dignity, privacy, and personal safety for its residents.
The VHA administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, a rental assistance program funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. VHA manages roughly 250 Housing Choice Vouchers in Clay County. The number of vouchers available varies depending on federal funding. VHA maintains a waiting list for vouchers due to demand.
