Meet Jason Thiel, our Chamber Manager! Jason joined the VCDC team in March 2020.
He was born and raised in Fort Morgan, Colorado, where he eventually moved and attended high school in Wakefield, Nebraska. He lived in Fort Collins, Colorado for 10 years and has been a resident in Vermillion for 8 years.
He is a University of South Dakota alumni, having received a Bachelor degree from USD in Political Science. He also has a minor in Economics. He has a diverse work history including working for three fortune 500 companies: Marsh McLennan, Danaher, and Hewlett Packard. His passion quickly turned to non-profit and community development. He is proud of the work accomplished while serving as the Executive Director for the Vermillion Cultural Association (VCA), which spearheaded the renovations of the Vermillion Theaters.
He tries to stay active and engaged in the local community whenever possible. He previously served as the VP of the Northern Colorado LGBTQ resource center, the City of Fort Collins Human Relations Commission, Student Govt. Liaison for the Vermillion City Council, Chair for USD Student Democrats and Chair of the Clay County Democratic Party.
Jason and his husband first moved to Vermillion in 2011 to attend USD. They had been weighing other options, but something with Vermillion “just clicked.” After completing their degrees, Jason and his spouse decided to move closer to their families in Western Colorado. They spent a year at 8000 ft. in the Rocky Mountains, however, they found themselves missing Vermillion. In the spring of 2019, Jason and his husband returned to Vermillion, all thanks to the force affectionately referred to as the ‘Vermillion Vortex.’
You can find Jason at the VCDC office or you can reach him at his email via Jason@VermillionChamber.com.
